Trees, Cooler by Nature Building a healthy tree canopy is critical to our City’s continued prosperity. Trees are an investment in our future. Trees:
Everyone can afford a tree - they're free! 1. Want to plant a tree on your residential property? You can receive two free trees each year from Miami-Dade County’s Adopt-a-Tree Program, although certain restrictions apply. For more information, visit Adopt-A-Tree Program. 2. Want to beautify your neighborhood? If you live within the City of Miami, you can request a street tree(s) by calling your local NET office at 305-960-4638. Within one month, the NET office will send an inspector to examine the requested tree location – the request must be made for public property only. Once the site is inspected, you will receive a call or letter letting you know if the requested site is appropriated for a street tree. If the request is approved, you can expect a tree(s) to be planted within an 18-month period. 3) Want to plant your own street tree? If you live within the City of Miami, you can contact your local NET office at 305-960-4638 and submit a request to plant your own street tree. This process requires a permit, which the NET office will handle for you. 4) Want to organize your neighborhood to plant trees? Contact one of our community partners to help organize a tree planting in your neighborhood. Be warned, you’ll have to help recruit your neighbors, dig holes, and agree to maintain the trees.
Volunteer to Plant a Tree Hands on Miami serves the Miami-Dade community through service projects, including neighborhood tree plantings. To find out about how to volunteer for upcoming tree planting event, visit www.handsonmiami.org or call 305-646-7200. |
